The Key is to Know about Diabetes so YOU Take Charge and Control It!

Diabetes is a life long disease that won't go away by not thinking about it. You need to take control and learn about how to feel well and prevent later health problems.

Maine Coast Memorial Hospital has group diabetes education classes. You also have a one hour pre-assessment with a nurse and a one-and-a-half hour assessment and meal planning session with a dietitian before classes begin. There are follow up sessions at 1, 3 and 6 months after initial classes and a one-to-one assessment a year after completing the program.

Payment

With a physician's referral, many health insurance plans will cover at least part of the cost of the program. Check with your insurance to be sure.
