MCMH Recipient of Maine EMS Trauma System Hospital of the Year AwardJay Bradshaw, Director of Maine EMS announced today that Maine Coast Memorial Hospital is the recipient of the 2012 Maine EMS Trauma System Hospital of the Year. MCMH was chosen for this award because of their commitment to high quality trauma care.
The hospital has demonstrated quality outcomes in collaboration with the Rural Trauma Team following requirements developed by the American College of Surgeons. MCMH’s support of ongoing trauma training has positioned the hospital to manage critical trauma events. Also chosen to receive a 2012 EMS Merit Award is William Nichols, EMT-Intermediate, of Stueben. Mr. Nichols has been with Petit Manan Ambulance for over 30 years and also works as a CNA at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. The EMS Merit Award is conferred to those who have made an exceptional contribution to the EMS system at the local or regional level and who have demonstrated involvement and contribution in one or more areas of EMS. According to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital CEO Charlie Therrien “MCMH is extremely proud of our team and the commitment they have made to high quality trauma care. We also are proud of Bill Nichols and his longstanding commitment to his community.” These awards were presented at an awards ceremony in the State House Hall of Flags on Wednesday with Department of Public Safety Commissioner Morris among those participating. Accepting the award on behalf of MCMH were Dr. Daniel Reinke, Emergency Center Director; Cameron Bird, RN, Emergency Center Nurse Manager; Tonya Cornish, RN, ED Charge Nurse; and COO/CNO Barbara Hocking. |
