    The following resources make the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Emergency Department outstanding:
    Staff experience in a high volume Emergency Department. Emergency Department team with a long term experience of working together.
    Availability to local specialists.
    Partnering with Crisis Response of Ellsworth.
    24 hour-a-day diagnostic services by a state-of-the-art imaging department and laboratory.
    On-site, on-call surgical center.
    Exceptional working relationship with emergency medical services network.
  • Asset to the Community
    The unquestioned value offered by our state-of-the-art Emergency Department is a key element of our community hospital. Each year community members seek services at our hospital’s Emergency Department – 18,000 on average – utilizing the vast array of services provided by the area’s largest Emergency Department. No one day is typical in its composition. The Emergency Department reflects the experience and daily needs of our community, addressing the complete spectrum of healthcare needs for that day.
  • Professional Education
    The Emergency Department staff provides ongoing professional education to the area emergency medical services personnel. To further enhance emergency preparedness, training is also offered to community members in lifesaving CPR courses.
  • Our Role in Prevention
    The Emergency Department and its staff are key elements in the fabric of the community, interfacing daily with a host of local and state agencies and law enforcement officials, and always serving as an advocate for those in need. The high degree of professionalism enjoyed by the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Emergency Department is by design.

    The staff must always be alert to the prevention side of their profession – looking beyond the surface of each case, probing to identify underlying issues that may be the root cause of injury or illness and then alerting outside agencies and resources to the need for corrective intervention and services.
