Volunteers are a treasure of excellence and knowledge. Always pleased to serve whenever asked, Volunteers bring a sense of calm and comfort to the sometimes overwhelming world of healthcare.

The MCMH Volunteer Team is over 130 members strong and growing! Volunteers work side by side with staff taking care of our patients and visitors and working arm and arm with area businesses in fundraising events such as the popular Poinsettia Ball, Chef’s Gala, and Schoodic Scramble Golf Tournament.

Volunteering Types

Internal Volunteers
Volunteers who work within the hospital and its off-site clinics and physician practices. We have a variety of service positions to offer prospective Internal Volunteers such as Front Entrance and Medical Office Building Greeters, Valet Parking Attendants, Outpatient Surgery Receptionists, Emergency Room Patient Advocates, Inpatient Activities Volunteers, Office Secretarial Support, and Special Projects Volunteers. Event Volunteers
Volunteers who work outside the hospital on our events such as the Poinsettia Ball, Chef’s Gala and golf tournaments. Event Volunteers work closely with the Public Relations and Development Departments to plan, design and set up events to raise money for hospital activities.

Junior Volunteers
Junior Volunteer positions are available during the summer only. Applications for the Summer of 2013 are due by May 17th. The number of positions will depend on the number of service areas requesting Junior Volunteer assistance. Junior Volunteer candidates are interviewed to determine suitability for service placement. Volunteer candidates are interviewed to determine interests and suitability for placement. As with all new employees, Volunteers must complete a Hospital Orientation Program before beginning duties at MCMH.
